CNC milling is one of the most commonly used machining methods. It mainly includes flat and contour milling. It can also drill, ream, ream, bore, countersink and machine threads on parts. CNC milling is mainly suitable for processing the following types of parts.
1. Flat parts
Flat parts refer to parts whose machining surface is parallel or perpendicular to the horizontal plane, and the angle between the machining surface and the horizontal plane is a fixed angle. This type of machining surface can be flattened.
2. Ruled surface details
Ruled parts of a surface refer to parts of a surface formed by straight lines moving according to certain rules.
When a four-axis or five-axis CNC milling machine is used to machine parts with a ruled surface, the moment of contact between the cutting surface and the cutter circle is a straight line. Such parts can also be approximated by linear cutting on a three-axis CNC milling machine.
3. Three-dimensional parts with a curved surface.
Parts whose machining surface is a cosmic surface are called hard surface parts. The machined surface of this type of part cannot be leveled. Ball nose cutters are usually used for cutting. The machined surface and the cutter are always in point contact. When using other cutting tools, it is easy to cause interference and damage to the adjacent surface. Three-axis CNC milling machines are typically used to machine three-dimensional parts with curved surfaces.
