Cold forging is the process of forming materials below the recrystallization temperature, and it is forging performed below the reduction temperature. In production, it is customary to call cold forging without heating the workpiece. Cold forging materials are mainly aluminum and some alloys, copper and some alloys, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel and low-alloy structural steel, which have low deformation resistance and good ductility at room temperature. Cold forging has good surface quality and high dimensional accuracy and can replace some cutting processes. Cold forging allows you to strengthen the metal and increase the strength of parts.
Difference between cold forging and hot forging:
1. Cold forging is performed at room temperature, and hot forging is performed at high temperature;
2. Cold forging has a higher hardness during the forming process, and hot forging has a softer hardness during the forming process;
3. The cold forging pressure in the forming process requires more pressure, while the hot forging pressure in the forming process can be relatively small;
4. The processing precision of cold forging after forging can be very high, and the processing precision of hot forging after forging can be very low;
5. Cold forging is good for relatively small jobs, hot forging can make a big difference;
6. The surface of the cold forging workpiece is smooth, and the surface of the hot forging workpiece is rough;
